Edith Johnson

"Loving Wife, Mother, & Nana" Canton – Edith Kathryn Overman Johnson, age 91, of Holtzclaw Street, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016 at her home. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha Sanford Overman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Johnson, who died in 2010. Edith was a member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Her abiding faith was evident in every aspect of her life. Her home was always open to everyone whether for friendly visits or a meal. She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne Gold and husband, John, of Waynesville, and Coleen Blaylock and husband, David, of Canton; four grandchildren, Chasen Gold, Tygue Gold, Kathryn "Katie" Blaylock, and Aslee Blaylock; and two great-grandchildren, Kai Gold and Havilynd Trull. A private graveside service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at Morning Star Community Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Timothy Howard officiating.
