Brevard - Edith Johns McFee went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Wednesday, August 23, 2017.
A native of Ozark, Alabama, she was born October 31, 1919 to Ollie Valula Garner Johns and Atlas Lingo Johns. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack McFee, her sisters, Myrl Johns Davis and Louise Johns Spivey, her brothers, Robert Johns and Bill Johns, and also her grandson, Robert Louis Taccia Jr. Her immediate family includes her daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Maron Lovell of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina; her grandson and his wife, Thomas and Teodora Taccia, great-grandson Thomas Taccia, Jr. and wife Breanna, and great-great granddaughter, Amelia; granddaughter and husband, Christina and Lamont Reese-Harris and great-great grandson, Lamont Jr, all from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Step-grandson and wife Jeffrey and Molly Lovell and step-great grandchildren Matthew and Lauren Lovell of Birmingham, Alabama, and step-granddaughter and husband Jill and Scott Schaffer and step-great grandchildren Samuel and Pearl Schaffer of Maitland, Florida. She is also survived by her niece Mary Jim Davis Philon and nephew James Robert Davis of Clyde, North Carolina; nieces and nephews Josephine Slappey, Frank Spivey, and John Spivey of Phenix City, Alabama, and sister-in-law Isabel Johns of Melbourne, Florida, and nieces Sandra Yates and Linda Semanisin; great nephew and wife Rob and Tammy Philon and their son, Logan of Columbia, South Carolina; great nephew and wife Jay and Leigh Philon and their son, Jake of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Edith was a wonderful loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother, aunt, and friend. She loved to cook for everyone she knew, and created amazing needlework pieces to give away. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she loved her church and church family at Canton Presbyterian Church in Canton, North Carolina.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 1:00 pm at the Canton Presbyterian Church of Canton, North Carolina. The family will receive friends Friday, August 25, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Wells Funeral Home in Canton, North Carolina. Following the services, there will be a reception at church fellowship hall. Interment will follow at 3:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery.
