Waynesville, Edith Ailean Milner, age 95, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at CarePartners Solace Center.
Edith has been a lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Joseph Glen and Oberia Bryson Tate; Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Milner, who passed away in 2014; daughter, Pat R. Milner and son, Steve Milner; along with four brothers, Harmon, Hub, Wallace, and Harley Tate. Edith retired from Jefferson Pilot as a secretary after 27 years of employment. Edith was the oldest member of Antioch Baptist Church and attended the Adult Ladies II Sunday School class. She was a gifted and determined woman of God who loved her family dearly. Edith was an avid Duke Blue Devil fan and enjoyed gardening throughout the year.
Edith is survived by her daughter, Regina Haynes, and her husband, Jim, of Waynesville; daughter-in-law, Karen Milner, of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Chad Haynes (Brooke), Nikkie Owens (Joe), Cheley McDowell (Shamgar), Stephanie Elrod (Glenn) and Josh Milner (Erin) and 13 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Teresa Glance and Judy Tate; and one nephew, Joe Tate.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Matt Pruett and Reverend Chris Wilmoth. The family will be receiving friends from 2:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. prior at the church. The burial will take place in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Edith’s great-grandsons.
