Edith Parks

Waynesville-Edith Shirley Parks, age 64, formerly of Georgia Avenue, died on Monday, November 5, 2007 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. A native of Wilkes County, NC, she is the daughter of the late James Ardell and Ethel James Parks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Downs, who died in 1991 and a son, Larry Keith Bryson. She enjoyed Full Gospel ministries, sketching, dogs, and bingo. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah; a son, Tony Downs and his fiancé, Jan, of Waynesville and also sons, David and Freddie; two sisters, Shirley Ferguson and her husband, Bob, of Clyde and Barbara Smith and her husband, Don, of Waynesville; one brother, Jerry Dean Parks and his wife, Pam, of Waynesville; nine grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Donna Caldwell. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 8, 2007 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church Cemetery with Reverend Randy Bolden officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. prior to services at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
