Edith Smith

Waynesville, Edith Estella Wright Smith, age 88, passed away, Thursday, September 16, 2010 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was the daughter of the late John and Eva Robinson Wright. She was also preceded in death by her husband Francis Smith, who died in 1994; a sister, Jeanie Moore and six brothers, France, Raymond, Wilburn, James, Winfred and Monte Wright. Estella retired from Haywood County Schools in 1988 with 20 years of service working in the lunchroom. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Anthony Duane Smith of Waynesville; twin sisters, Lucy Rogers and her husband Russell of Crabtree and Lucille Taylor of Waynesville; close special friend, Mary Winchester and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, September 18, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Susan Giles will officiate. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of Lucille Taylor, 30 Gwen Street, Waynesville. The family would like to thank Mary for her care to Estella over the past several years.
