Waynesville, Mamaw, Edith Sharp West, age 96, of Ammons Trail, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014 at her residence. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Ollie Davis Sharp. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edgar West, Sr.; two brothers, Hill and Wallace Sharp; and two grandchildren. Edith was a founding member of Ninevah Baptist Church and lived to see the fifth generation grandchildren. Edith loved all of her children and enjoyed her flowers, garden, and chickens. Edith is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Grasty (Calvin), of Waynesville; a son, John Ed West (Mary Jo) of Maggie Valley; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Mike Leslie officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Dustin Henson, Dakota Surrett, Daniel Messer, Thomas Justice, James Trull, and Chris and Jeremy West. Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Messer, Ronnie Ammons, Steve West, Matt Huntanar, and Robbie Griffin. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Haywood County Rescue Squad, P.O.
