Edna Noland

Waynesville, Edna James Noland, age 88, of the Fines Creek Community, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2009 at Smoky Mountain Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. She was a native and life long resident of Haywood County, and the daughter of the late Robert Cleveland and Clara Lee Nease James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Glenn Noland, who died in 1994; one sister, Pearle J. Brummitt; and two brothers, Robert and O.C. James. Mrs. Noland was a graduate of Fines Creek High School and received a Home Economics Degree in 1941 from Carson-Newman College. Retiring in 1974, she taught high school home economics for 33 years in the Haywood County School System, having taught at Fines Creek, Crabtree-Ironduff, and Tuscola High Schools. After her retirement, she enjoyed spending time on her farm on Fines Creek sewing, knitting, crocheting, and cooking. She was a member of Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. She is survived by two nieces, Latane Clore and her husband, Bob, of Clyde and Judy Sparks of Candler; one nephew, Bruce James of Candler; one great niece, Noelle Lowry; and two great nephews, Eric and Chad Zuleger. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2009 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville, and at other times, the family will be at the home of Bob and Latane Clore, 264 Doctors Drive, Clyde.
