Edna Parker

Edna Edwards Parker has gone to be with the Lord whom she loved and served all 86 years of her life. She was born in 1919 to the late Jim and Mattie Gibson Edwards of Haywood County, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Charlie C. Parker and two brothers, Harry and Lee Edwards. For many years, Mrs. Parker was a well-known sales associate for numerous businesses in downtown Waynesville. She was a charter member of Calvary Road Baptist Church. She is survived by three children, her son, Charles R. Parker and his wife, Mary of Bloomfield, IN, her daughter, Pauline "Polly" Parker Crawford and her husband, Jerry "Bud" Crawford of Liberty, SC and her son, Reverend James "Jim" Parker and his wife, Diane of Waynesville; five brothers, Roy, Kenneth, Jack, Joe and Frank Edwards all of Western North Carolina; she also had nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. A service of praise and worship will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home. The service will be led by her son, Reverend James Parker and a granddaughter's husband, Reverend Dr. Doug Ferguson. Music will be provided by four of her granddaughters, Vicky, Joan, Melodie and Jeri Lynn and Mrs. Brenda Rogers organist. Interment will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of her son, James and Dee Dee Parker, 1011 Camp Branch Road, Waynesville. Pallbearers will be grandsons, great-grandsons and nephews of Mrs. Parker. Flowers will be welcomed and appreciated or the family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Leslie Brook Parker Walker, who is currently fighting breast cancer.
