Edna Robinson

Waynesville, Edna Mae Fugate Robinson, 74, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2014 at Hospice - West Volusia Care Center in Orange City, Florida. Edna was the daughter of the late Vardy & Georgia Fugate and was also preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Fugate, and her husband, David Reed Robinson, who died January 14, 201l. Originally from Clyde, North Carolina, Edna graduated in 1960 from Memorial Mission School of Nursing in Asheville, North Carolina. She worked at Haywood County Hospital in Waynesville, North Carolina as a Registered Nurse until she and husband, David moved to Florida in the late1960's. Edna continued her nursing career working her way up to become the Director of Nursing for the Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, Florida. In February 1996, Edna suffered a brain aneurysm which left her with severe short-term memory impairment. After her injury, she lived a very full and happy life with her husband traveling between homes in Florida and North Carolina, as well as vacation travel to many places all over the USA. Edna leaves us with the utmost respect for the special person she was, her dedication to her profession, and her amazing beautiful smile. She was simply one of the sweetest persons who will be missed beyond words by all whom have been blessed to know her. Edna is survived by her brother and his wife, Billy Jack and MaryRuth Fugate; nephews and their wives, Randy and Carrie Fugate, Todd and Daniel Fugate, and Eugene Oneal Fugate; niece, Jana Denise Fugate; sister-in-law and her husband, Elveta and Richard Lundy; additional nephews and their wives, Larry and Kimberly Lundy, David and Susie Lundy, and Richard Lundy an additional niece, Beverly Lundy; as well as many great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, family, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A memorial service is being planned for family and friends in Deland, Florida and will be forthcoming.
