Edna Messer

Waynesville, Edna Shelton Messer, 81, passed away on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at her home surrounded by her children.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Claude and Nova Morgan Shelton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Messer, who died in 2008, and a brother, Jimmy Dean Morgan.

Edna dearly loved her family and enjoyed cooking a family meal for them on Thursdays.  She also enjoyed shopping, flowers and collecting knick-knacks.

She was a member of The Church of God.

Edna is survived by her son, Junior Messer, and his wife, Darla; two daughters, Vickie Conard, and her husband, James, and Donna Messer; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren; and her fur baby, Chance.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home, with Reverend Kenneth Rhinehart and Reverend Bryan Myers officiating.  Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 9:00 on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at the funeral  home.  Burial will be in Ratcliffe Cove Community Cemetery. Services will be live streamed and may be accessed through Mrs. Messer's obituary on Wells Funeral Homes website.
