Edna Swanger

Clyde, Mary Edna Greene Swanger, age 92, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 2, 2015. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. and Glennie Fine Greene. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Luke Alvin Swanger, who died in 1968; a son, Randall L. "Whitey" Swanger; two great-grandchildren, Dustin and Amber Swanger; her twin sister, Martha "Lucy" Greene and sisters, Bonnie Fisher and Georgia Nix; and six brothers, Hobart, William Hooper, Elmer, Robert G., Raymond and Jack Greene. Edna was a homemaker and enjoyed working in her flower garden. She was known as "Granny" to all who met her. Edna especially loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a soft spot in her heart for each and every one of them. Edna is survived by two daughters, Bonita Swanger and Sheila (Chaz) Falk; two sons, Darryl Swanger and Mike (Elaine) Swanger, all of Clyde; seven grandchildren, Rick (Tiffany) Swanger, Melissa (Tommy) Vierra, Jennifer (Trey) Henry, Vanessa (Randy) Deese, Aaron (Karina) Swanger, Bill (Carrie) Falk, and Charles (Michelle) Falk; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rick, Nathan, and Aaron Swanger, Randy Deese, Trey Henry, Tommy Vierra and Mike Greene. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until service time at the church.
