Waynesville-Edward Cameron ''Ned'' Glavich, age 79, of 153 High Street, died Friday, April 11, 2003 at his residence.
He was a native of Black Mountain and was the son of the late Edward and Bessie Burnette Glavich. He retired from Dayco Rubber Company in the customer service department in 1983 after 31 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Waynesville. He was an Army veteran of WWII serving from 1942 until 1946. He received the following medals: WWII Victory Medal, Silver Star, Good Conduct, Meritorious Unit Award, American Theater Service Medal, E. A. M. E. Service Medal with three bronze stars.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Flora Hyatt Glavich; one daughter, Elizabeth K. Womack of Canton; two sons, David C. Glavich of Wingate, NC and Timothy L. Glavich of Candler; one sister, Elsie Jo Cauchman of Newport News, VA; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2003 at the First Baptist Church of Waynesville. The Reverend Dr. Robert Prince and Dr. Donald Teater will officiate. Burial will be at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Wells Funeral Home in Waynesville. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
The pallbearers will be Robert, Daniel and David Hyatt, Greg Cullen, Greg Bailey and Patrick Womack. The Honorary pallbearers will be A. J. Plemmons, Carol Bailey, Walter James, Alna Hyatt, Gene Harvey and Herbert Burnette.
