Edward Andrew Kacicek, 87, of Horse Shoe, NC went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2016. He was born March 18, 1929 in Palmerton, PA to the late Walter Arthur and Catherine Ruth Rogowitz Kacicek. Edward served in the US Army from 1951-1953, worked as a firefighter in Civil Service at Dulles Air Force Base, Virginia and Hurlburt Field, FL and also for the Blue Ridge Parkway and HandiSkills in Asheville. He was a member of French Broad Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 1990 by his wife of 38 years, Helen Dickerson Kacicek; brother, Walter Leopold Kacicek and sister, Margaret Anne "Peggy" Kacicek Cebrosky of Palmerton, PA.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Gregory Cooper Kacicek of Horse Shoe; daughter, Renee Lynn Kacicek Hoffman, and husband Darrell Cole, of Horse Shoe; step-sons, James Cooper of Hendersonville and John Cooper and wife, Frances Cooke Cooper, of Southgate, MI; brother-in-law, Charles Cebrosky of Palmerton, PA; 3 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and 45 nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00PM on Wednesday, April 13 in the Chapel of Faith, Moore Funeral Home at Forest Lawn with the Revs. Kemuel Pruitt and Grey Fisher officiating. The family will receive friends in the Chapel on Wednesday from 12:30PM until the time of service. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Candler.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to French Broad Baptist Church, 182 Grandview Lane, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
