Edward Michael Piccirillo, Jr., aged 92, of Asheville, North Carolina, peacefully reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Emma Lou, on March 28, 2025, at the CarePartners Hospice Solace Center after an extended illness. Born on January 13, 1933, in Ridgeway, Pennsylvania, Edward was an embodiment of dedication and love in his career and personal life.
Edward served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War, displaying a commitment to service that he carried with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he embarked on a successful career as an Executive Store Manager for Walmart in Asheville, where he was known for his strong work ethic and leadership.
A proud graduate of St. Leo's High School in Ridgeway, PA, Edward's life was characterized by his industrious nature. He was always busy around the house, maintaining an immaculate environment in both his home and workspace. Friends and family alike cherished his ability to create a welcoming atmosphere. A tremendous fan of the UNC Tarheels' basketball team, Edward took great joy in celebrating their victories and sharing his passion for the game with those around him.
Edward's warmth extended deeply into his family life. He was a loving father to his son Jeffrey (Karla) Piccirillo and daughters Joanne Brown, Cathy Espey, and Mary Jo Haynes (Bobby). His legacy continues through his ten beloved grandchildren and sixteen cherished great-grandchildren. Edward's family remains a pillar of pride and a testament to the love and guidance he offered throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his father, Edward Michael Piccirillo; his mother, Angeline Petro; brother, Joseph Piccirillo; sister, Phil Lease; son-in-law, Mike Espey; and great-grandson, Micah Haynes.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Edward will fondly remember his love for chocolate ice cream, a small delight that brought him joy. As we reflect on the life of Edward Michael Piccirillo, Jr., we celebrate the remarkable man he was—a devoted family man, a respected leader, and a true friend who will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
A memorial service for Mr. Piccirillo will be announced at a future date.
