Waynesville-Edward ''Eddie'' Reece, age 55, of Waynesville, died Saturday, November 1, 2003 at Memorial Mission Hospital, Asheville.
A native and life-long resident of Haywood County, he was the son of Doris Nichols Reece Kerley, of Canton, and the late Lester H. Reece. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Katherine Reece. He was a United States Navy Sea Bee in the Vietnam War, and worked both as a carpenter, and in later years as a security guard for Ghost Town in Maggie Valley. He was a member of VFW Post 5202 and the American Legion Post #47, both in Waynesville.
He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Lou Reece; his step-father, Harry Kerley, of Canton; one son, Clayton Reece of Canton; two step-sons, Lee Cagle, and his wife, Brandy, and Trent Cagle, all of Waynesville; two step-daughters, Tammie Metcalf, and her husband, Tony, and Tracy Arrington, and her husband, Ronnie, all of Waynesville; one sister, Kathy Francis, of Canton; one step-sister, Donna Kerley, of Waynesville; two brothers, Wayne Reece, of Waynesville, and Tommy Reece, of Canton; and 6 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2003 in the Waynesville Chapel of the Wells Funeral Home. The Reverend Johnny Swanger will officiate. Military rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 5202 and the American Legion Post #47. The family will receive friends following the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Lou Reece, 384 Sorrell's Cove, Waynesville or Doris Kerley, 84 Filter Plant Road, Canton.
