Canton-Edwin Jonathan Long, age 80 of Hungry Creek Road, died Friday, August 13, 2004 at his residence. He was the son of the late Fred Lee and Ellen Henson Long and was also preceded in death by one brother. Mr. Long retired from American Enka with 43 years of service. He was a member of East Fork Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Sunday school teacher, Sunday school superintendent and was a Gideon. He loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Betty Poston Long of Canton, one daughter, Patricia L. Burress and her husband John of Canton, three sisters, 2 grandsons and their wives, Robert Chad and Janet McCracken and Patrick Sean and Shannon McCracken and two great-grandchildren Texie and Harper McCracken. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2004 at East Fork Baptist Church with Reverend Johnny Foster and Reverend Claude Conard officiating. Burial will follow at New Cruso Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
