Edwin Ray

Edwin "Ed" Walter Ray, 67, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. A native of Bigler, Pennsylvania, he was a son of the late Robert Edwin and Meda Rachel Robinson Ray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Yorkie dog, Gini Lyn. Ed enjoyed spending time with his dogs and working in the yard. He was technologically savvy with computers and he assisted many friends with their computer problems. Ed was a wonderful husband and very devoted to his entire family. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, June Smith Ray; one daughter, Dawn Harris and her husband, Roger, of Waynesville; one sister, Peggy Bogle and her husband, Max, of Albemarle, North Carolina; one brother, Robert Franklin Ray and his wife, Judy, of Lawrenceville, Georgia; one grandson, Joshua Harris; one granddaughter, Amber Hollar and her husband, Matthew; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home & Cremation Services with the Reverend Katherine Crain and Pastor R. Curran Welch officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. At other times, the family will be at the home of June. Memorials may be made to the Nazareth Children's Home, Inc., P.O. Box 1438, Rockwell, North Carolina, 28138 or to Fincher's Chapel United Methodist Church, c/o Shirley Cutshaw, 158 Children Street, Waynesville, North Carolina, 28786.
