Edwin Wilkinson

Waynesville, NC - Edwin Hayes Wilkinson, age 69, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at Mission Hospital in Asheville. He was born on February 19, 1941 in Memphis, Tennessee. The Wilkinson's lived many years in Rushville, Indiana; York, Pennsylvania; Lawrenceville, Georgia Sanford, Florida; and currently in Waynesville, North Carolina. He was a US Marine Corps veteran and in recent years "Coach Ed" was a substitute teacher and assistant football coach at Seminole High in Sanford, Florida and most recently assisted coaching at Tuscola High School in Waynesville. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Julia Anne Wilkinson, two sons, a daughter, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and two brothers. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010 at Long's Chapel United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Long's Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 459, Lake Junaluska, NC 28745.
