Edwina Jackson

Edwina Leatherwood Jackson, age 89, died on Sunday, August 28, 2011, at MedWest - Haywood. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Estelle Jones Leatherwood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Lee Jackson, who died in 2009; a son Earl Jackson, who died in 2008; a daughter, Glenda Matthews, who died in 1991; and 14 brothers and sisters. She was a member of Clyde First Baptist Church and an employee of Clyde Elementary School for 30 years. She is survived by three sons, Gary Jackson and his wife, Barbara, of Waynesville, Carl Jackson and his wife, Betty, of Clyde, and Steve Jackson and his wife, Pam, of Waynesville; a daughter, Mary Ann Morgan and her husband, Gary, of Clyde; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; and two special caregivers, Tonya and Tiny. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at Clyde First Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. T. David Phillips and Reverend Dr. Michael Leatherwood officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
