Effie Farmer

September 13, 1911 — August 10, 2003

Canton- Effie Mae Frizzell Farmer- age 91 - died Sunday, August 10, 2003 at Canton Christian Convalescent Center after an extended illness.

She was a native of Jackson County but had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was a daughter of the late Jason and Lillie Deitz Frizzell and the wife of the late Marion Farmer who died in 1960. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Williams and Bertha Pressley and three brothers, Donnie, Norman and Alvin Frizzell. She was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church. She loved cleaning, cooking, sewing and crafts and was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her family dearly.

She is survived by five daughters; Opal F. Stockton and her husband Lethel of Canton, Lucille F. Seal of Morristown, TN., Naomi F. Frazier and her husband Jess of Newport, TN, Marie F. Heatherly of Candler and Christine F. Littrell and her husband Bob of Canton; two sons; Ray Farmer and his wife Pauline and Kenneth Farmer all of Canton; one sister, Ollie Lewis of Sylva, 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Todd Littrell and a great-grandson, Kevin Adams.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 13, 2003 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Gene Worley and Reverend Jack Scott officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the home of a daughter, Opal Stockton, 200 Lillie Lane, Canton, NC 28716.
Serving as pallbearers will be David Stockton, Jeff Farmer, Dean Parham, Eddie Frazier, Steve Heatherly and Tony Littrell. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons.
