Effie Holder

Canton-Effie Haney Justice Holder, age 97, died Friday, April 23, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Maggie Haney. She was a homemaker and cared for her mother and two siblings until their deaths. She was also preceded in death by her first husband John Albert Justice and her 2nd husband, Abb Roland Holder, three sisters, Essie King, Slonie Shelton and Lillie Littlefield, three brothers, Luther Haney, Victor Haney and Elmer Haney and one grandson, Chris Fox. She is survived by three daughters, Betty Allen, Mary McElrath and Sarah "Pug" Fox all of Canton, eight grandsons, Jimmy and David Allen, John, Eddie and Mike McElrath, Randy, Ricky and Bryan Fox, one granddaughter, Gail Paxton, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandsons, two sisters, Bessie Shelton of Pisgah Forest, Odessa Massengill of Lenoir, one brother Oder Haney of Greer, SC, three step-daughters, Eula Devlin of Candler, Thelma Sams of Alabama and Polly Reno of Clyde, three step-sons, L. B. Holder and Ray Holder both of Canton and Bud Holder of Florida. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2004 at Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services of Canton with the service following at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel. Reverend Virgil Holloway, Reverend Tommy Carlisle and Reverend Bobby Winebarger will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Clyde. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons. At other times, the family will be at the home of Pug Fox, 294 Painter Street, Canton, NC 28716. Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Cemetery, C/O Home Trust Bank, P.O.
