Effie Keener

Canton - Effie Hannah Keener, age 85, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a daughter of the late Boring and Caldonia Davis Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Homer Hannah, who died in 1971, and two brothers, Charlie and Jack Smith. Effie retired from American Enka Corporation and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. She had a passion for music and loved listening to country and bluegrass. Her door was always open and she enjoyed cooking for friends and family. She is survived by two daughters, Sara Warren and her husband, Ray, of Clyde and Helen Levi and her husband, Foy, of Zirconia, NC; three sons, Reverend Clifford Hannah and his wife, Donna, of Lake Junaluska, Cecil "Zeke" Hannah and his wife, Shelia, and Walter Leatherwood and his wife, Hilda, all of Clyde; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2007 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Clifford Hannah, Reverend G.W. Jameson and Reverend Jack James officiating. Burial will follow in Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
