Waynesville, Lelia Elaine Wright Brown, age 70, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at The Homestead.

A native of Haywood County she is the daughter of Mona Lee Almond Wright and the late Wendell Wright. In addition to her father she is preceded in death by a brother, Bob Wright. Elaine was a graduate of Waynesville Township High School. She was a member of Allen's Creek Baptist Church where she was also a Sunday school teacher. She formerly worked with Latch Key Program at Hazelwood Elementary School and was a substitute teacher at various schools in the Haywood County School system. Elaine had a love for kids and her hobby was taking care of people wherever the need was.

Elaine is survived by her husband of 47 years, James David Brown; two daughters, Lisa B. McBride, and her husband, Kevin, of Clyde and Michelle B. Presnell, and her husband, Brett, of Waynesville; sister, Suzanne Teague, and her husband, Tommy, of Maggie Valley; seven grandchildren, Savannah Presnell, Ian McBride, Jonah Presnell, Morgan McBride, Micah McBride, Hayden Presnell and Leah McBride.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Allen's Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Scotty Patrick and Reverend Chris Willett officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Wells Funeral Homes.
