Eleanor Palmer

Maggie Valley-Eleanor Damon Palmer, age 91, of Blueberry Lane, died on Saturday, August 20, 2005 at her residence. A native of Topeka, KS, she was a former resident of Cocoa Beach, FL and had resided in Haywood County for the last 15 years. She was the daughter of the late Otto and Rebecca Borin Palmer. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Damon. She received her teaching degree from Creighton University in Omaha, NE and enjoyed traveling, reading, and fishing. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Leonard Palmer; two sons, Daniel L. Palmer and his wife, Mona, of Clinton Township, MI and Leonard E. Palmer and his wife, Beverly, of Elm City, NC; three brothers, Richard Damon of Bozeman, MT, John Damon of Alexandria, VA, and Harle Damon of Rolling Hill Estates, CA; three grandchildren, Becky Theut, and Jacob and Kelsey Palmer; and two great grandchildren, Travis and Tara Theut. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2005 at Maggie Valley United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeremy Troxler officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
