Eleen Farmer

Canton, Eleen Louise Pressley Farmer, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at her residence.

A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Hurman Perry Pressley and Minnie Sarah Shipman Hyde.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Frankie Harkins; a brother, Kenneth Pressley, and stepmother, Verna Williamson Pressley.

Eleen was a homemaker and very active in her church, having taught Sunday School classes, Vacation Bible School and was a member of the church choir for many years.  A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother, her family was the center of all that made her happy.  She loved family gatherings and loved to cook.  She always surprised her family with a secret dessert on the holidays and delighted teasing the kids about it.  She will be loved and missed greatly.

She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Richard William Farmer; three sons, Ronald R. Farmer and his wife, Peggy, of Waynesville, Doug Farmer of Canton and Dean Farmer and his wife, Karen, of Killen, Alabama; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Pressley.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Beulah Baptist Church with the Reverend Barry Clark officiating.  Burial will follow at Spring Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
