For reasons far beyond our earthly understanding, Heaven gained the sweetest of angels on Friday, January 12, 2018. Elira Bego-Cardoso came into this world on February 13, 2004 and immediately began capturing hearts. A gifted musician, talented scholar and beautiful spirit, Elira was loved by family and friends who surrounded her with the joy and admiration she deserved. The apple of her proud parents' eyes, Elira was remarkable in every way. Left to cherish her beautiful memory are her devoted parents, Ingrid Bego and Andrelino Cardoso. Elira also leaves behind her adoring little sister, Adelina, who played a very important role in her life. Elira will be deeply missed by her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of dear friends.
Elira was a valued member of the Tuscola High School marching band. She was a brilliant saxophonist, played the piano and violin beautifully, and was fluent in three languages. Elira took great joy and delight just being in the company of her family and friends. She excelled academically and enchanted those who knew her with her gentle, compassionate soul. Like most teenagers, her life was an exciting and vibrant journey - she worked hard, played hard and loved even harder. Elira will be remembered forever as a beautiful light, with the brightest of smiles and a laugh that warmed hearts. In honor of that light, her parents request that in lieu of flowers, you consider making a heartfelt contribution to a scholarship fund that will be established in Elira's name. Inquiries regarding the fund may be directed to a family friend at dpatterson@wcu.edu.
