Elizabeth Greene

Canton-Elizabeth Rathbone Greene, age 81, of 200 Peters Cove Road died Wednesday, December1, 2004 at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and was a daughter of the late Herman and Ottie Messer Rathbone. She was also preceded in death by one brother Harley Rathbone. Mrs. Greene was a member of Meadow Grove Baptist Church and was former co-owner of Hilltop Supply and Greene's Grocery. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, L. M. Greene, one daughter Betty Blaylock and her husband Charles of Canton, two sons and their wives, David and Pam Greene and Don and Marilyn Greene, all of Canton, one sister, Mary Messer of Clyde, a special niece Susie Caldwell and her husband Johnny, 5 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 4, 2004 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Homes & Cremation Services. Reverend Heath Davis and Reverend Mark Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens in Clyde. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 200 Peters Cove Road, Waynesville. Flowers would be appreciated or memorials may be made to one's favorite charity.
