Waynesville, NC, Elizabeth "Libby" Pettit Hiler, age 84, formally of Roanoke and Moneta, Virginia, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2015 at The Homestead. A native of Roanoke, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late P.W. and Nellie Stevens Pettit. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Hiler, who passed away in 1993. Libby was a Dental Assistant and bookkeeper, member of First Baptist Church, Lake Junaluska and a former member of Hales Ford Baptist Church. Libby will be remembered as a loving mother, who loved her family. She was an accomplished gardener who grew beautiful flowers and loved birds especially, bluebirds. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Franklin (Rick) of Waynesville, three sons, Ray Hiler (Elaine) of Seneca, South Carolina, Bill Hiler (Tina) of Roanoke, Virginia and Kevin Hiler (Mary) of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, January 5, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Lake Junaluska with Reverend Jimmy Huey officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in the Mausoleum Chapel at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem, Virginia. The family would like to thank the staff at Silver Bluff and Haywood Regional for their care and especially a thank you to the staff at The Homestead for making her final days special.
