Elizabeth Huffman

September 16, 1920 — January 19, 2010

Waynesville, Elizabeth McGinnis "Lizzy" Huffman, age 89, of 199 Belle Meade Drive, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at her residence. A native of Rutherfordton County, she had lived most of her life in Haywood County. She was the daughter of the late Lloyd and Anna Arrowood McGinnis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Zilla Huffman; two daughters, Carolyn Chambers and Bonnie Tremulis; one son, Earl Huffman; four sisters, Helen Leatherwood, Myrtle Finney, Eula Teague, and Margaret Coward; and one brother, Medford Grasty. Elizabeth was a former grocery store clerk, an avid flower gardener and quilter. She was also a member of North Hazelwood Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Robert Huffman and his wife, Kathy, of Dobson, NC; two daughters, Dorothy Trevathen and her husband, Claude, of Hampton, VA and Margaret "Sue" Dobbins, of Waynesville; one sister, Mildred Mull, of Waynesville; 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and 23 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend James Hensley officiating. Burial will follow at Rocky Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Haywood Regional Medical Center Hospice, 560 Leroy George Drive, Clyde, NC 28721.
