Elizabeth Ivey

Sarah Elizabeth Moody Ivey, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she resided in Buncombe County most of her life and was the daughter of the late Charles Way and Sallie Jackson Osborne Moody. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert James; her second husband, W. H. Ivey; two brothers; two sisters; a son, Charles James; and a grandson, Charlie James. She was a member of Hominy Baptist Church. Elizabeth cherished her family and loved them all dearly. She will be remembered for being caring and showing love, concern, and acceptance to all whom she knew. She is survived by a daughter, Judy Sparks and her husband, Jim, of Candler; a son, Bruce James and his wife, Sherry, of Candler; six grandchildren, Jennie Brummitt, Jim Sparks and his wife, Luci, Shane James and his wife, Julie, Shannon Birmingham, Jamie Massie and her husband, Tim, and Laura Dodd and her husband, Bobby; 11 great-grandchildren; three nephews; and a niece. The family would like to extend a special thanks to CarePartners Hospice, especially her nurse, Nan Needs for her love and care. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Joe Yelton officiating. Burial will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
