Elizabeth Messer

Canton- Elizabeth Harrell Messer- age 88 - died Tuesday, August 09, 2005 at her daughter's residence in Aiken, SC. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. Mrs. Messer was the daughter of the late Floyd and Millie McElroy Harrell and the wife of the late Jerry Lee Messer who died in 1992. She had retired from American Enka Corporation with 35 years of service and was a member of Canton Free Will Baptist Church. She is survived by one daughter, Betty Williamson of Aiken, SC; three grandchildren, Deborah Brown and her husband Dennis of Union, SC, Layna Chester and her husband Travis of Knoxville, TN, and Peyton Bruce Henson and his wife Rachael of Statesboro, GA; three great-grandchildren, Amanda Brown, Jeremy Brown and Jackson Ranier Chester and special nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Brian Bird and Reverend Milton Hollifield officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
