Elizabeth Schabinger

Maggie Valley-Elizabeth Plott Schabinger, age 85, of 326 Timberline Drive, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at Haywood Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Maggie Valley, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Mabel Sprinkle Plott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Robert P. Schabinger, who died in 1984; a brother, James Robert Plott; and two sisters, Lucille Griswold and Gertrude Welch. Elizabeth graduated from Waynesville Township High School and moved to New Jersey where she resided for 40 years before returning to Maggie Valley. She was a bank teller at United National Bank for 15 years before retiring in 1980. She was very active member of Maggie Valley United Methodist Church and volunteered with the Haywood Regional Medical Center Auxiliary She is survived by one daughter, Linda Palmer and her husband, Thomas, of Maggie Valley; one son, Bruce Plott Schabinger and his wife, Diane, of Richmond, VA; one sister, Marjorie Roberts, of Dallas, TX; and four beloved grandchildren, Robert B. Schabinger and wife, Diane, of Raleigh, Laura E. Schabinger of Cambridge, MA, Courtney E. Palmer of Maggie Valley, NC and Justin C. Schabinger of Richmond, VA. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2006 at Maggie Valley United Methodist Church with Reverend Jeremy Troxler and Reverend Erma Bond officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville and from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. on Friday prior to services at the church.
