Waynesville-Elizabeth Lovell Thompson, age 91, of Pigeon Street, died Saturday, December 11, 2004 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. She was a native of Emmons County, North Dakota until moving to Bismarck, North Dakota in 1983. She had resided in Haywood County for two years. She was the daughter of the late Michael and Johanna Keller Vetter. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Lovell, who died in 1947; and two sons, Al and Jerry Lovell; and a sister, Brigetta Vetter; and two brothers, Tony and Phillip Vetter. She was a dietitian at St. Anthony's Catholic School and then at Linton Hospital prior to retiring. She was a member of the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Bismarck, North Dakota, and a spiritual member of St. John's Catholic Church in Waynesville. She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Bronald Thompson of Bismarck, North Dakota; her daughter, Bernice Smathers and her husband, Carroll of Waynesville; her son, Vic Lovell of Centertown, Missouri; two daughters-in-law, Ida Lovell of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Cindy Lovell, of Bismarck, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 12, 2004 at Wells Funeral Homes and Cremation Services of Waynesville with Father Dennis McGowan officiating. Additional services and burial will be held in Bismarck, North Dakota. Memorials may be made to St. John's Catholic Church Building Fund, 234 Church Street, Waynesville, NC 28786.
