Ella Beck

Waynesville, Ella Mae Lanning Beck, age 92, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Dolphus and Vina Chandler Lanning. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jarvis G. Beck; a son, Jarvis Beck; and daughters, Ruby Lee Carver, Louise Williams, and Vina Mercer. Ella Mae enjoyed weaving mats, working puzzles and spending time with her sisters traveling and eating out. She is survived by daughter, Bobbie Jean Taylor of Hickory, NC; a son, Bruce Beck of Canton; two sisters, Rebecca Curtis and Lula Faye Golden both of Waynesville; and also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2014 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Rick Mehaffey officiating. Burial will follow at Green-Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
