Ellen Rogers

Waynesville, Ellen Lucy Wright Rogers, age 97, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 at CarePartners Hospice Solace Center.

A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late John David and Eva Nancy Robinson Wright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Russell Rogers, who died in 2014; two sisters, Jeanie Moore and Estella Smith; six brothers, France, Raymond, Mont, Jim, Wilburn and Winfred Wright. Lucy retired from Wellco Corporation with 39 years of service, and was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Lucy was a special lady who will be remembered for having a great sense of humor. She enjoyed being around children and had a sincere love for all of her family.

Lucy is survived by her twin-sister, Lucille Taylor, of Waynesville; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 21, 2017 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Katherine "Kitty" Crain officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
