Ellen Stroupe

Ellen Shipman Stroupe, age 78, died Monday, June 1, 2009, at Elizabeth House of Flat Rock. She was a native of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Vinson and Bonnie Green Shipman. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Christine Shipman. She was a member of West Asheville Baptist Church. She is survived by a son, Douglas Harold Stroupe of Asheville; a sister, Betty S. Lane and her husband, Bill, of Canton; a brother, Gudger Shipman of Canton; a stepson, Reverend Ron Stroupe of Nasheville, TN; a step daughter, Mary Self of Nashville, TN; a grandson, Douglas Michael Stroupe; two granddaughters, Brittany Leigh and Taryn Leigh Stroupe; and two great-granddaughters, Abbagail Leigh Allen and Amaya Leigh Sellers. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at the Long's United Methodist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Ron Stroupe officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. prior to the service at Wells Funeral Home of Canton.
