Ellen Louise Holcombe Case Warren went home to be with her loved ones on June 11, 2014 at Maggie Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Maggie Valley. Ellen had just celebrated her 87th birthday. A native and lifelong resident of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Daisy Miller Holcombe. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Case, who passed away in 1954, a son, Michael Roger Case, who passed away in 1994; seven brothers, Ray, Roger, Hoyle, Alvin, Roy, Carroll, and Jim Holcombe; twin sister, Helen Davis; a son-in-law, Junior Lockman; along with several nieces and nephews. Ellen retired from BASF in 1990 and was a member of West Canton Baptist Church. Ellen loved her family and always placed everyone before herself. Ellen loved life and was always positive, and always saw the positive in everyone. She always loved her time with all her grandchildren and she was a true caregiver to all. She is survived by a son, David Jack Case and his wife, Susan; a daughter, Janice Case Lockman all from Canton; three sisters, Lucille Parham of Leciester; Mary Webb of Asheville, and Shirley Holcombe of Waynesville; a brother, Charles Holcombe of Canton; a granddaughter, Dawn Evans and her husband, Shannon, of Waynesville; two grandsons, David A. Case of Canton, Michael McEntire of Marion; five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Colton, Megan, Channing, and Kera; three great-great grandchildren and one on the way, Caroline, Jackson, Addison, and several special ones she considered her own grandchildren, Brian and Brayden. Ellen had numerous nieces and nephews, which she loved like they were her own. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 13, 2014 at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Frank Cantrell and Mr. Woody Sanford officiating. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14th at Morning Star Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service.
