Ellis Craig

Ellis Roy Craig, age 64, of Hall Mountain Road died on Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at his residence. A native of St. Louis, MO, he had resided in Haywood County since 1973. He was the son of the late Ellis and Maxine Wilkerson Craig. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Scott Craig; a granddaughter, Michaela Sellars; two sisters, Linda Franklin and Eva Holcombe; a brother-in-law, Dale Schilly; and a father-in-law, Francis Schilly. He was owner and operator of Craig Ceramics in Haywood County for ten years and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Roy's life joy was his family. Roy enjoyed fishing and flea marketing. He was a United States Army veteran serving in Vietnam. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rita Schilly Craig; three sons, David Craig and his wife, Lisa, of Powell, WY, Ronny Craig of Clyde, and Mark Craig and his wife, Darnell, of Canton; two daughters, Cheryl Parton, and her husband, David, of Hayesville and Pam Sellars and her husband, Charlie, of Sevierville, TN; 12 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; two sisters, Trealla Burke and Faye Worley both of Canton; and three brothers, Frank Craig of Festus, MO, Tommy Craig of Maggie Valley, and Harley Fadler of Canton. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 14, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Cliff Hannah officiating. Burial will follow at Green Hill Cemetery with military honors conducted by the United States Army. The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
