Clyde-Elsie Haney Cooper, age 82, of McClure Cove Road, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2006 at her home. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Victory Haney and Annie Haney King and was also preceded in death by a son, Bruce Wood, and one brother, William Haney. She was employed as a spin-draw winder at American Enka Corporation for 26 years before her retirement and attended Antioch Baptist Church. She was a good homemaker and enjoyed crocheting, gardening, and embroidery. She is survived by five daughters, Gail Eavenson of Waynesville, Linda Hughes and her husband, Dock, of Angleton, TX and Edwena Beasley, Donna Henry and her husband, David, and Connie McClure and her husband, Buddy, all of Clyde; one son, Bill Wood, of Canton; three brothers, Jarvis Haney and his wife, Lorene, and Howard King, all of Clyde and Lewis King and his wife, Linda, of Canton; 15 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 in the Waynesville chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be David Williams, Sam Moody, Vic and Danny Haney, Bobby and Michael Wood, and David Henry.
