Elsie Haynes

October 1, 1920 — January 10, 2017

Waynesville, Elsie Fullbright Haynes, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at Maggie Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Jess Spurgeon and Rachel McClure Fullbright. She was also preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Lawrence Parker; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Juanita and brother, Floyd Fullbright. Elsie was a hard worker, most of the time working two jobs to provide for her family. She was a wonderful gardener and loved the outdoors. Elsie volunteered at Adult Day Care and Salvation Army. Elsie is survived by one daughter, JoAnn Styles, of Spartanburg, South Carolina; two sons, Jim Haynes, and his wife, Regina and Ted Haynes, and his wife Marie, all of the Iron Duff community; one sister-in-law, Gertrude Fulbright, of the Crabtree community; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Antioch Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Gary Hearon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. at the church. Memorials may be made to Gideon International, Haywood West Camp, P. O. Box 634, Waynesville, NC 28786.
