Elsie Hyatt

Waynesville, Elsie Lucille Parris Hyatt, age 91, of Raleigh died Sunday, January 25, 2009. Mrs. Hyatt was born in Swain County on April 8, 1917 and was the daughter of the late Dave and Annie Parris. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Joseph Woodrow Hyatt and their youngest son, Thomas. Mrs. Hyatt is survived by her four children; son, Robert Hyatt and his wife Madge of Rutherfordton, son, Billy Hyatt and his wife Dean of Waynesville, son, Carroll Hyatt and his wife Linda of Waynesville, daughter, Shirley Hyatt Usry and her husband Robert of Raleigh; her daughter-in-law, Faye Hyatt of Waynesville; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Allens Creek Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Swain Memorial Park in Bryson City. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 27th from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Alzheimer's research.
