Elwanda Moore

September 12, 1941 — May 16, 2012

Waynesville, Elwanda Ione Moore, age 70, of Southfork Road, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at her home. She was a native of Rochelle, LA and had lived in Haywood County for the past 22 years. She was the daughter of the late Brodie and Lillian Quinn Greer and the wife of the late James Herman Moore, Sr. who passed away in 2007. Mrs. Moore was the former co-owner of Moore's Mountain Real Estate along with her husband and was a legal secretary for 36 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville. Elwanda enjoyed working outdoors and attending her grandchildren's performances and sporting events. She is survived by one daughter, Elizabeth Evans and her husband Mike of Clyde; one son, James "Jim" Herman Moore, Jr. and his wife Connie of Waynesville; one sister, Doris Helms of Waynesville; 5 grandchildren; Sarah Senter and her husband Shaun, Laurie Green, Art Moore, Ashley Moore and Conner Moore, one great-grandson, James Senter and one niece, Jenny Caldwell and her husband Leon. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2012 in the Waynesville Chapel of Wells Funeral Home. Reverend Dr. Robert Prince will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Care Partner Hospice Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813 or to the American Cancer Society, 90 Stiles Road, Canton, NC 28716.
