Emily Terrell

Emily Michal Terrell, age 74, died Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lenoir and Emily Hill Michal. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Thomas and David Michal. Emily was an avid hiker and she completed the Appalachian Trail by herself. She completed a climb of Mt. Kilimanjaro, put her hand on the wall behind Angel Falls in Venezuela. She enjoyed traveling the world with her husband and spoiling her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Hugh K. Terrell; two sons, Michal Terrell and his wife, Carole, of Canton, and Jon Terrell and his wife, Candy, of Bethel; one daughter, Lydia Killian and her husband, Mike, of Buford, GA; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A visitation will be held from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 26, 2009 at Wells Funeral Home of Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 358, Waynesville, NC 28786.
