Emma Hall

Candler – Emma Lou Whitted Hall, 93 of Candler, died Sunday, January 3, 2010 at the John F. Keever Solace Center. Mrs. Hall was born in Haywood County on June 29, 1916. She was the daughter of the late Collie and Alma Whitted, Sr. and was married to the late Raymond J. Hall, Sr. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois W. Thompson of Candler, and brothers, Ray Whitted, Homer Whitted, and Glen Whitted, all of Flat Rock. She was also preceded in death by sons-in-law, Tommy McCracken and David Boyd, both from Canton . Mrs. Hall is survived by one brother, Collie Whitted, Jr. of Hendersonville and six children; sons, Gerald Vincent Hall and wife Emma Grey of Canton, and Raymond Hall, Jr. and wife, Sandra, of Candler; daughters, Catherine Rathbone and husband, Marvin of Candler, Sue Oates and husband, Wayne, of Canton, Dortha Towe and husband, Carl, of Candler, and Janice Boyd of Canton. Her legacy will continue on through her 17 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was a great lady of the Baptist faith who lived life to the fullest and loved to spend time with her family, going to the beach, fishing, and gardening. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of the John F. Keever Solace Center and Care Partners Hospice. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 6, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Page officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
