Emma Owen

Elizabeth "Ebby" White Owen, age 87, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015 at The Homestead. Born in Oak Hill, West Virginia, she lived most of her life in Canton, NC. She was the daughter of the late John Michael and Clara Ann Garten White and was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Sonley, "C.S. Rock" Owen who died in 2008 and her brother, John M. White, Jr. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Canton High as well as Pisgah High School and also managed Eve's Apple Dress Shop in downtown Canton. Ebby had a special way of lighting up a room when she entered and knowing how to put a smile on people's faces. She had a creative side and was very talented with crafts including knitting and sewing. Ebby was also a dedicated member of Canton First Baptist Church. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Carla Allen and her husband, Tod of Raleigh, NC; two grandchildren, Parker Allen of Raleigh and Molly Allen of Charlotte. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Crawford/Ray Memorial Gardens with Reverend Jay Meadows officiating.
