Emma Galloway Rhinehart, age 102, died Thursday, March 8, 2007 at Silver Bluff Nursing Home. She was a native of Transylvania County and the daughter of the late Earl Pink and Janie Sizemore Galloway. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters; two daughters, Grace Kuykendall and Maxine Galloway; and two sons, Glenn and Reverend Clyde Rhinehart. She was married to her late husband, Bass Hilliard Rhinehart on August 7, 1920 and they came to Canton by train on their honeymoon. Mrs. Rhinehart took great pride in her flower garden, her love for her many grandchildren, and she loved making cornbread and biscuits. At the time of her death, she was the oldest living member of West Canton Baptist Church. She is survived by three daughters, Gladys Bovey of Canton, Nancy Hipps and her husband, J. R., of Clyde, and Eva Martin of Atlanta; two sons, Henry Rhinehart and his wife, Carrie, and Bruce Rhinehart both of Canton; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Rhinehart of Boston, MA; a son-in-law, Homer Galloway of Canton; 23 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2007 at the Canton chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Virgil Holloway and Reverend William O. Henson officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
