Bethel, Emma Naomi Burnette Owen, age 82, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at her residence.
A native of Haywood County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Ada Chambers Burnette. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Owen who died in 2018; brother, Tommy Burnette, and an infant brother, James Troy Burnette. Naomi was a very active member of Riverside Baptist Church. She enjoyed working in her flowers, reading her Bible, playing the piano and the omnichord and helping others, always putting everyone else first. Naomi loved giving her daughters flowers every Mother’s Day.
Naomi is survived by three daughters, Debbie Russell, and her husband, Gary, of Waynesville, Jan Macolly and Sandra Moore, and her partner, Joe Arwine, all of Canton; three grandchildren, Aaron Owen, Kayla Cacicia (Zach) and Justin Moore; and one great-granddaughter on the way, Maddie Cacicia.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Riverside Baptist Church with Reverend Steve Frazier officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Riverside Baptist Church, Building Fund, 2171 Lake Logan Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
The care of Mrs. Owen has been entrusted to Wells Funeral Home of Waynesville.
