Emogene Parker

Emogene Barnes Parker, age 62, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at her residence. A native of Guilford County, she was a daughter of the late Roosevelt and Ruth Grant Barnes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Parker, who died in 2008 and three brothers. She was employed by the Haywood County School System as an assistant bus driver. Emogene's joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by a son, Bobby Parker and his wife, Dana, of Canton; a daughter, Patti Parker Surrett and her husband, James, of Canton; two sisters, Annette Journey and her husband, Jim, of Lexington, and Ailene Johnson and her husband, Johnny, of High Point; and eight grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Dr. Roy Kilby and the Reverend Ray Sharpe officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
