Eric Allen

Dr. Eric Raymond Allen, age 77, passed away at his residence in Maggie Valley on Wednesday, November 18, 2009. Dr. Allen was the son of the late Victor Albert Edward and Jane Allen of Liverpool, England. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Gwendolyn Ruth Cassidy Allen; two sons, Geoffrey Michael Christopher Allen and his wife, Michelle, of Glenville, NC and David Jonathan Stephen Allen and his wife, Michele, of Wesley Chapel, FL; two grandchildren, Morgan Alexis Allen and Keegan Eric Allen. A baby daughter preceded him in death. Dr. Allen was born in Oratava, Tenerife, Canary Islands, attended school in Liverpool, England receiving a doctor of philosophy in Pure Chemistry with post doctoral studies in Ottawa, Canada and Riverside, California. Dr. Allen researched air pollution in Boulder, Colorado, Albany, New York and later was a researching professor with the Environmental Engineering College at the University of Florida, Gainesville. Dr. Allen was extensively published and known internationally in his field. Dr. Allen's hobbies included model railroading and photography. His loves included classical and jazz music and spending time with his family. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
