Eric Martis

Eric R. Martis, age 28, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at his residence. A native of Will County, Illinois, he was a son of the late Kevin Martis. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Leonard and Rosemary Gould Martis. Eric fought a long hard battle with cancer. He took all the pain and treatment in order to spend more time with his family. His daughter, Sundai, is a miracle in the lives of the family and will keep part of Eric and his memory alive. Eric gave of himself freely and thought of everyone else before himself. Eric's magnetic personality helped him make and gather great friends in the area. He was determined, a hard worker, great friend, loving husband, son and brother. He is survived by his wife, Susan Mitchell Martis; a son, Joseph of Canton; a daughter, Sundai; his mother, Kathy DiGiovanni and step-father, Chris, of Maggie Valley; one sister, Nicole Lambright of Canton; two brothers, Kevin Martis II and Joshua Hodock both of Maggie Valley; one nephew, Zachary Lambright; three nieces, Amber, Melissa, and Kayle Lambright. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 15, 2009, at the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Father Larry LoMonoca officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
